^^ so for those of you that follow my tumblr…see what I mean? ^^ Someone always asks…. LOL

She disappeared and turned into Jenny when the timeline changed.

When the baby predators were released in the Permian, they altered evolution just enough that the person who was supposed to have been born as Claudia was born as Jenny instead. (And then there were all the other changes that happened, too: the ARC, Leek, etc.)

Theoretically, if anyone ever went back to that exact moment in the Permian and rounded up the baby predators, thus preventing them from altering the food chain in that era, the timeline would shift back again: Jenny would disappear and become Claudia again. And also theoretically, other things that subsequently happened due to the timeline shift may have also been different:

1. Caroline’s predation of Connor

This was Leek’s idea. No Leek = no Caroline. And, taking the theory out further: perhaps no Abby/Connor, given that Caroline’s interference was part of what started pushing Abby toward realizing she liked him.

2. Stephen’s death

This was a direct result of Leek being in Claudia’s position on the team, and Helen, fascinated by the timeline change, wanting to mess with things further.

3. Becker joining the team

The increased military presence wouldn’t necessarily have happened were it not for Stephen’s death.

4. Helen’s takeover of the ARC

Much of this was enabled by Helen creating her clone army. And, as you may recall, she created the clones from the cleaner who was nearly killed by a baby raptor in 2.1 (and theoretically actually killed by a Silurian scorpion in 2.5—remember that he was on the mission to gather critters for Leek’s zoo.)

5. Nick’s death

Without a clone army to help her take over the ARC, Helen may not have had the resources to kill him off. Without Stephen’s death, she may not have gone looney tunes enough to want to.

6. Danny joining the team

Sarah probably still would have. There wasn’t anything in the previous timeline that would have changed her theoretical involvement with their British Museum mission. But Danny? Yeah, he may have still been involved in the events of 3.2, but with Nick still in charge for the events of 3.4, Danny wouldn’t have been necessary.

7. Pretty much everything else that happened after 3.4

No Jenny and no dead Nick = no Jenny leaving the team in 3.5. The other 3.5-3.9 events may have happened (with Nick heading the team rather than Danny) but other key things may have changed. Would Abby’s brother have come between her and Connor? Would Christine still be obsessed with the artifact if it weren’t for Helen chasing it, too? If Helen hadn’t gone crazy, would there have been a reason for the team to chase her back into the Cretaceous and then get stuck there?

And, if that didn’t happen, then everything in s4-5 wouldn’t have happened. No Becker, for one. No recon mission to save Connor, Abby and Danny, so no dead Sarah. No Matt and Jess. No Philip taking over the ARC—and no new ARC. No Connor almost blowing up the world in his post-Nick-death stupidness.

Etc.

Now, of course, even without Leek setting so much of this in motion, any number of other things could have happened to cause some of those things. If you think of it like a Final Destination thing, it may be that fate needed those things to happen anyway, they’d have just happened in a different way. Stephen, for instance, may have died in another way, and caused Helen’s grief, which caused her to kill Nick … etc. Or Helen may have been inspired to kill Nick and/or Claudia because she was jealous of their relationship. So, there’s no guarantee that killing off those baby predators would save Nick and Stephen.

Still, it is kind of fascinating to see the Rube Goldberg machine in motion just from something as seemingly insignificant as leaving a few baby predators behind in the Permian to snack on some Gorgonopsids.  ~original post by textualdeviance
